IRB in

I finally turned in my IRB (the document that needs to be approved so I can start my research) yesterday. I am hoping to have it back in 3 weeks or less (less would be nice). Then I have to start getting consent from my participants and hopefully by mid-May I will be actually collecting data. It has taken much longer to get here than I anticipated. I am not really very happy about that, but there isn't much I can do to change the past. Hopefully things go smoothly and my study (data collection part) will only take a month to complete.

Yessssssssssssssssssssssssss!

The other tooth fell out! This time a casualty of eating funnel cake for breakfast. For those of you who are wondering: "Why in the world does she make funnel cake for breakfast?" let me assure you that I do not. This one was courtesy of our school cafeteria. So for the record we lost one from brushing teeth, and the other from eating funnel cake for breakfast - you've got to admit we are creative. Guess the tooth fairy needs to make another visit tonight. Oh, and now H says he looks like a baby - quite a change from the booty he was before!

$311

That's how much it costs to fill my prescription without insurance - the generic version 30 day supply. All I know is someone is getting ripped off!

Toof

I have been trying to yank the thing for weeks. Today I was inspecting it when I realized just how much his teeth needed an adult brush, and one of his teeth actually fell out with one brush! I know there are tactics to take teeth out, but I have never heard of a tooth being brushed out! J doesn't really buy my story, but H and I know the truth! Plus he was thrilled and made a picture for the tooth fairy. Notice the other is sitting sideways so we are about to loose another. Wonder how this one will come out. Oh, and H thinks he looks like a "booty" now - whatever that means. Maybe I should check urban dictionary.

in the past few days

I have finished two papers, a poster for a class presentation, ran two sessions of an undergraduate class solo, graded more papers than I can count (honestly more than when I taught before), met with panicked students, edited an IRB (big document for my study), attended classes/meetings, and studied for my comp exam Monday. I will be so happy when the semester is over and I can take it a little slower. Notice I said little.

I finished a project

this time for C's room. These match her quilt I made. I put it the finished product in her room after she fell asleep and she was very excited about her new flowers the next morning.

I think they turned out quite well and the whole project only cost $2 since I found the frames for $1 each and the fabric and buttons were left over from other projects! H also liked what I made, so I have been asked to make one with surf boards for his room. That should be a fun project too, maybe after the semester ends. Here is my inspiration.

obsessed...

with H's loose teeth. He has at least 3 loose and two have been that way for months. When will that kid just pester with them so they can fall out? I just want to yank them every time I see them. Does that make me a bad mom, OCD, or just plain crazy?

Easter

This post is a bit late. Easter was a little spread out this year. Two weeks ago we had our Easter service at church since conference (our bi-yearly broadcast from church leaders in Salt Lake) was over Easter weekend. I had church meetings early so J got the kids ready and headed to church. It was a rainy day, so I didn't take photos that day, but let me just tell you H looked super handsome (no photo to prove it) and C looked like this (an accurate reenactment minus the hair that is combed):
Not exactly what I had in mind, and J believed her when she said that is what I picked out for her. She looked a little like Punky Brewster or Pippi Longstocking - all mistmatched.

I was hoping she would look more like this:

On Easter day we spent the day at home watching conference. I actually made the time to watch all 4 sessions (5 counting the young women session the previous weekend). It was a very fulfilling experience and I am amazed at all the things I have been remembering throughout the week about the counsel we were given. I love hearing from the prophet and apostles! The kids engaged in the regular festivities: egg hunt, Easter baskets, candy for breakfast. You know the regular drill!

It was a beautiful warm day and my tulips and daffodils were blooming.
Since I didn't get to take photos on Easter in Sunday dress, I took a couple today of the kids. They are getting so big and I love that they mostly like each other. I really hope that lasts forever!

Weather woes

What's with the weather here. Wednesday the high was 83 degrees, Thurs 68, Fri 44. Last night when we were out running errands it was actually snowing. How do you go from 83 to snowing in 2 days? I know it was a heat wave, but the whole town is going to end up catching cold. I want the warmth back...soccer/gardening/studying in the hammock/playing outside/going to the park (you get the idea) in the cold is no fun at all!
