hot hot hot

I know it is relative, but it has been hot this weekend. Warm in the evening and in the 80s during the day. Since earlier this week we had 40 degree highs, it is a bit of a shock. The dog is loving it and staying outside more. The kids are loving it too. I am enjoying seeing painted toenails, but don't care for my white legs. John is just hot reffing. Hope your weather has been wonderful, or at least bearable.

Potty update

So I am a little afraid to post this - because it might very well come back to bite me, but here goes. Claire has been in underwear all weekend: Friday-Sunday. By this I mean at church, the store, during nap, etc. Only time we switch is for bed - to a diaper. She just can't hold it all night and I don't want to change sheets at 2am. So far she hasn't had any accidents with her underwear on. So I think this might be it - I think she is potty trained. We are going to try underwear to the sitter tomorrow. Hopefully she is successful there as well. She has been doing well in pull ups there, so I think it will be fine. Don't want to celebrate too early - so maybe next weekend we will have to celebrate having a big girl in our house!

Flat H

So H has been doing a month long unit in his class based on the book Flat Stanley. He has been to the play, been reading the book with me at home and working on various home work projects based on the character in the book. Only thing is that each of the kids turned into flat Stanley. For his latest project he took pictures of Flat H different places. He one below is the best photo he took. Super photographer right?

Tax day

So you all have one day left to get them in. Have you procrastinated like we did? Last night we were up until midnight finishing things up on Turbo tax. Wasn't until that point that I realized PA has local taxes?!@? Oh man that is irritating. We actually got returns from both states, & federal, but had to pay local taxes. That is just absurd especially since I had more deducted from my paycheck for local taxes than I did for federal. At least we have nice township buildings as a result! (Can't you just feel my sarcasm?) Just for the record we also pay property tax. Be glad if you don't have this headache! The good news is everything is in and we are good for another year. Can't wait until we can afford to pay an accountant.

Easter

So we had a great weekend. H was so excited for the Easter Bunny to come. He talked about it nonstop for almost a week. Then he decided that it was probably just some man in a costume - and later changed his mind when the eggs showed up out of nowhere. We dyed Easter eggs on Friday. Almost all of them had H's name on them. He was disappointed that one of his eggs turned out pink instead of red. Ooops! H had two extra days off of school, so that was very exciting for him. Also had an egg hunt at our house with some friends. C was doing great for the frist 30 seconds and then H ran over and snatched up an egg she wanted to put in her basket. See photo below.C's little friend that came over for the hunt just picked them up and put them back down. It was too cute. Her mom just had to tag along and pick up after her. We also enjoyed a nice church service with two special musical numbers. Not to shabby for a small ward where the primary president is also the ward choir director. I would like this time of year better if the trees weren't still bare, and the weather weren't chilly, rainy and windy. Hope you are all enjoying better weather.

Some bunny loves you

Isn't she just the cutest Easter bunny you have ever seen? I wanted to get Easter cards out, but it just didn't happen. So here is an Easter wish from C. Hope you got plenty of candy to last until Halloween!

Boy pull-ups

So J went on our latest trip to Sam's Club. He agreed to pick up a few items for me including pull-ups for C. He came home with "Cars" pull ups. Apparently he didn't realize that they were for boys until H pointed it out to him, and at that point he was already across the store and didn't switch them. Well thankfully for us all C loves her new car pull-ups and even prefers them to the princess ones. Who would have known. So if you see her in boy pull-ups now you will understand why!

First visitors

Well we had our first visitors since our move here, and everything went very well...except for Papa's missing medication, C's illness of an ear infection during the visit, Benn's slippers he left behind, and Nana's missing sock. Really though it was great to have Benn, Nana, and Papa visit. I think we will all have memories of good ice cream (gotta love PSU creamery, and Meyer Dairy), Penn State fan gear, pretty parks, piggy back and shoulder rides, long car rides, and silly children. Nana even managed to clean while she was here (honest I did try before they arrived), and our microwave thanks you! The best part of course was that we all got to see Uncle David - aka Elder Parrish! What a treat. We wish we could have spent more time with you! This week was very busy since I spent last weekend with the family, so I played catch up for a few days. I am now ready for a weekend of productivity - and Easter preparation. Plus, can't wait to watch conference.

puttin' her face on

This is a bit of an old photo, (I just downloaded a bunch), but I thought this was a great one to share. Apparently I left mascara where C could get it and this is what resulted:

I think I better have a talk with her about the proper way to apply makeup because she looks like a) she is going to play baseball b) she is ready for Halloween c) she is trying out to be an orphan in an off Broadway version of Annie. I don't think this resembles actual mascara application. Good thing I don't buy waterproof! Oh, and good news -shout works on mascara too!
